I was born in mexico and raised extremely religious so abortion was out of the question for me, that is until I became pregnant at the age of 20.

I have been pregnant 7 times--had 2 abortions, then a child, then another abortion, then another child, then a 5-month-along miscarriage, then my last child, and I got my tubes tied at age 34. My first abortion was in 1973--abortion had just been made legal.

I was a sophomore in college when I found out I was pregnant. I took the test on a whim; I had been having cramps for about a week and had a seriously heightened sense of smell, but my period hadn't come.

It was early December 2014 and I was a mother to a 5 month old baby boy. Unfortunately contraceptives do fail. I hadn't had my period for at least three months and I was extremely fatigued but I blamed that on being a new mother.
