Under a little known Voluntary Relationship law in Minnesota it’s not considered rape unless “force” is used, which is subjective to the police. When I reported it to the police because he didn’t beat me I was told to stop making trouble for him.

The rape resulted in a pregnancy, I had an abortion because I knew I would hate that child and my rapist who the law protected would always be in my life. Even after Ovarian Cancer at 27 resulted in never having children, I have never once regretted my decision. It allowed me to be free of my abuser and rapist.

No woman should ever have to live without the choice that I was given.
