It was 2006 and my relationship was still early and the birth control I had started was in the first month and had not kicked in yet, we were safe, but not safe enough. I was 25 and just out of college, barely getting by when I missed a period, we could not have afforded a child as we could not afford to take care of ourselves. I made an appointment at Planned Parenthood the day I found out and am so grateful for their existence and for the insurance I had that covered it. I have no regrets about my decision, as I would not be where I am now had I not made it.
