I had an abortion in 1978. I was 17. It cost $200 and I never told my parents. I was absolutely not ready to be a parent. At the time, I was a high school drop out working as a cashier at a cafe. I had no idea what I was going to do with my life, but I knew that I wanted nothing more to do with the father and I did not want to be a mother.

I eventually went on to college and graduated from law school. I got married and live a pretty decent life. I have no children, and never really wanted them.

I look back and think how different my life would be if I had not been able to terminate that pregnancy way back when I was 17. I think how different my relationship with my parents would have been had they known I was pregnant.

Thank God I had access to an abortion. It was one of the best choices I ever made.
