The woman who held my hand while the procedure was happening was the first person to be nice to me since I’d found out I was pregnant.

I wasn’t supposed to be pregnant.

Afterwards I could barely speak, but I uttered the words – are you sure? are you sure it’s gone?

In Canada the services are free.

My experience was also very private and the women I dealt with, compassionate. I have never been so thankful for our health care system, as I was that day.
