It was 1973, I was a 23 year old mother of 2, attending school and working. When I discovered I was pregnant. I knew I had a big decision to make. If I continued the pregnancy I would have to drop out of school. The future of me and my 2 boys was my biggest concern, I couldn’t see a way to have another baby and continue with my plan to finish my education. I had quit high school at 16 and was on welfare. I got my GED and went back to high school and was now attending college. This was the hardest decision I’ve ever made. Once made, I was grateful that I had a place to go to get a safe affordable abortion.
