I was a sophomore in college. I had just turned 20. I was not on the pill, but I was always careful to use condoms. One night I was with my boyfriend and the condom came off.
I didn’t know until it was too late. Three weeks later, I started to cramp up, but I never got my period. I took a pregnancy test and it came back positive. I got in a cab and went straight to Planned Parenthood. They told me I was pregnant and laid out my options for me. I come from a family of 6 kids and have always dreamed about having my own family, but I knew that I was in no position to raise a child. Three weeks later I had an abortion. It was hard, but not a hard decision. I know that when I do start my own family, I will be in the best possible position to do so, and everyone will benefit.
