I was in my third year of graduate school when I found out that I was pregnant. I had been on various forms of birth control since I was a teenager, and unfortunately it failed at a difficult time in my life. I was struggling with anxiety disorder and was not ready to become a mother while still a student. My partner (now my husband) and I decided to terminate the pregnancy. It was not a difficult decision at all, and I was very lucky to have the support of my partner, doctors, and community. I am eternally grateful to Planned Parenthood for helping me navigate my options, and for the women’s health center nearby where I had the abortion. Now that we are both out of school and on stable financial ground, my husband and I look forward to starting a family.
