In 2002, I had an abortion. It was the most painful decision, I ever made. The guy I was pregnant by was white. I am African-American. We had never talked about having kids. I just had a daughter the year before. He wasn’t ready for the responsibility. We made decision together. He went with me to the clinic. He was there after the procedure. We cried together.

There’s only a few people who know I have had an abortion. I have never told my story because I made a very personal decision that no one has the right to judge. Women make tough decision every day. Yet, we are told we can’t make decisions for ourselves and for our families. This has to end. This is our lives. Let us make our own decisions. Stop interfering in our lives. Let us be.
