National Youth HIV & AIDS Awareness Day (NYHAAD), annually on April 10th is a day to educate the public about the impact of HIV and AIDS on young people.

HIV stands for human immunodeficiency virus. It is the virus that can lead to acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS), if not treated. HIV attacks the body’s immune system, specifically CD4 cells (aka T cells), which help the immune system fight off infections.
