Sequoia Smallwood (she/her) is the Social Media & Communications Coordinator at Advocates for Youth. Before entering this role, Sequoia worked with Advocates as a Social Media Intern, where she supported the development and execution of digital campaigns and created engaging and accessible social media content for Advocates’ audience.
Sequoia holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies from the University of Maryland, College Park, with thematic concentrations in Race, Ethnicity, and Class as well as Arts, Technology, and Cultural Production. During her time at UMD, she also studied Multiplatform Journalism, which served as a foundation for developing skills in digital storytelling and multimedia content creation.
