Statement on DC violence incited by Trump supporters

“Yesterday’s violence in the District of Columbia is the expected product of this President’s encouragement of violent extremists. We know that Trump’s refusal to concede will create delays that cost lives. We also know that he will continue, as he always has, to encourage gangs of his supporters to commit violence, and that most Republicans in Congress will enable him to keep their grip on power.  Not for the first time in this presidency, we are staring fascism in the face. If we have any hope of pulling this country back from the brink, we need to work alongside BIPOC youth activists who are putting their lives on the line to protect their communities. And we must maintain that level of vigilance now, and during the Biden Administration.” – Debra Hauser, President, Advocates for Youth
