SCOTUS Strikes Executive Order on Birthright Citizenship
Today, the Supreme Court ruled in Trump v. Barbara, the case deciding the legality of President Trump’s attempt to end birthright citizenship through executive order. The court sided against the Trump Administration and found the EO unconstitutional.
Said Debra Hauser, President, Advocates for Youth:
“The Trump Administration has relentlessly targeted immigrants with illegal and violent tactics that put young people at risk. Their tactics have grown increasingly extreme, creating a climate of surveillance and policing that has torn families apart. Violence against immigrants must be stopped – whether it takes the form of horrific executive orders or unconscionable ICE raids. The Supreme Court was right to reject this latest unconstitutional attack. All young people deserve safety, stability, and freedom from racial profiling and persecution.
Young people are working to build a world where everyone is safe and celebrated for who they are. They understand that attacks on immigrants come from the same people who are stripping young people of so many of their other rights and who have attacked many other vulnerable communities. Young people will continue to fight against anti-immigrant attacks and those who perpetuate them.”
