AMAZE Program Manager and Strategic Brand Ambassador

Advocates for Youth is excited to announce a new position working on the AMAZE project, the Program Manager and Strategic Brand Ambassador (PMSBA).

ORGANIZATIONAL DESCRIPTION: Advocates for Youth (Advocates) partners with young people and their adult allies to champion youth rights to bodily autonomy and build power to  transform policies, programs and systems to secure sexual health and equity for all youth.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION:  AMAZE is a project of Advocates for Youth and the WestWind Foundation that harnesses the power of digital media to provide young people around the globe with medically accurate, age-appropriate, affirming, and honest sex education they can access directly online— regardless of where they live or what school they attend. AMAZE also strives to assist adults— parents, guardians, educators and health care providers around the globe—to communicate effectively and honestly about sex and sexuality with the children and adolescents in their lives.

SUPERVISOR: Head of Communications and Brand Impact

The Program Manager and Strategic Brand Ambassador (PMSBA) will be responsible for coordinating all aspects of the AMAZE project to ensure the team is working collaboratively and leveraging ideas, resources and partnerships strategically across the entire project. The PMSBA’s work will fall into four categories:  project management, strategic partnerships, communications and creative/branding and marketing as described below.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Project Management

  • Serve as the project manager for AMAZE.org, working closely with the full AMAZE team to keep all aspects of the project (domestic, international, parent-facing content, youth-facing content, educator-facing content, clinician-facing content) focused and on track.
  • Oversee the administrative aspects of the project including contracts, vendors, metrics tracking, and reporting.
  • Facilitate weekly team meetings, strategy sessions, and internal communications.
  • Maintain a topline overview and grasp of the entire project in order to identify potential gaps, silos, or workflows that can be streamlined.
  • Supervise the AMAZE administrative assistant.

 

Strategic Partnerships

  • Confidently communicate AMAZE’s work, vision, and values to potential partners, funders, and external audiences while maintaining the overall goals and objectives of the project.
  • Lead AMAZE’s external facing strategic partnerships, collaborations, and talent engagements.
  • Serve as AMAZE’s representative in coalition meetings, conferences, and other networking activities.

Media

  • Serve as one of AMAZE’s media spokespeople and effectively represent the project in print, online, audio, broadcast, and social media pieces.
  • Effectively and proactively connect AMAZE’s content to current events, cultural moments, and other opportunities for raising awareness.
  • Manage, prepare and support AMAZE team members, youth ambassadors and others to serve as spokespeople, write statements and opinion pieces, and create other content.
  • Develop and supervise an outreach strategy to support AMAZE team members and youth ambassadors for speaking engagements, AMAZE events, and media opportunities with our various constituencies including youth, parents, educators and service providers worldwide.

Creative

  • Consult with AMAZE’s graphic designer, animators, and communications team to ensure AMAZE’s tone and brand is effectively communicated in visual pieces.
  • Work closely with AMAZE animators and video editors to ensure all content is scalable to our global audience.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

The successful candidate will have at least five years proven experience in project management; superior interpersonal, written and verbal communication, and organizational skills; proven experience ideating and executing creative marketing strategies;  a working understanding and experience with digital platforms; experience facilitating meetings and events; comfort serving as spokesperson and working with the media; interest and experience in sexual and reproductive health, rights and justice.

In addition, the successful candidate will have the ability to contribute to a positive team environment and to balance multiple projects at once. Willingness and ability to initiate relationships. Qualified candidates must be committed to AMAZE and Advocates for Youth’s mission and goals.

HOURS: This is a full-time position and includes health/dental  benefits. The position is contingent upon continued foundation funding.

SALARY: $70,000 to $90,000 depending on experience

START DATE: Negotiable but ideally no later than June 1, 2022

LOCATION:  Advocates’ offices are in the District of Columbia.  Candidates for this position can work remotely, but need to be available during east coast working hours. Some travel will be required if the candidate lives outside the DC, Maryland, and Virginia area.
