Guide for Student Reporters
Thanks for thinking of Advocates for Youth for your upcoming report or student publication! This page should be a starting point for your research. Below is an overview of our mission and programs, as well as links that will help guide your research.
Mission
Advocates for Youth partners with young people and their adult allies to champion youth rights to bodily autonomy and build power to transform policies, programs and systems to secure sexual health and equity for all youth.
Vision
Advocates for Youth envisions a society in which all young people are valued, respected and treated with dignity; sexuality is accepted as a healthy part of being human; and youth sexual development is normalized and embraced. In such a world, all youth and young adults are celebrated for who they are and afforded honest, affirming, inclusive sex education; access to confidential, universal sexual health services; and the economic, educational, and social power to exercise their bodily autonomy and make informed decisions regarding their health and well-being.
Issues
We’re working with youth activists to build a better world. Our work is intersectional, inclusive, and centered in young people’s lived experiences.
Policy Priorities
In partnership with young people, Advocates for Youth champions policies that expand and improve young people’s reproductive and sexual health and rights on Capitol Hill, within the Administration and federal agencies, within state legislatures and local municipalities, in coalitions, and with colleague organizations.
Programs
Advocates for Youth works alongside thousands of young people here in the U.S. and around the globe as they fight for sexual health, rights and justice. Advocates for Youth works both in the United States and internationally with a sole focus on adolescent reproductive and sexual health. Our youth advocacy programs and initiatives are key to our success.
