Advocates for Youth Opposes the Restructuring of Title X Under Diane Foley

It is the government’s responsibility to prepare young people with the resources and skills they need to lead safe and healthy lives. This means providing young people with access to critical information to help them make informed decisions about their bodies, their lives, and their futures — not harmful and ineffective abstinence-only curriculum and crisis pregnancy centers that perpetuate a culture where people are shamed for their personal decisions, including healthcare choices.

Statement on the Introduction of the EACH Woman Act

Advocates for Youth applauds the reintroduction of the EACH Woman Act, legislation which lifts bans on abortion coverage, by Representatives Barbara Lee (D-CA), Diana DeGette (D-CO), and Jan Schakowsky (D-IL) in the House and Senator Duckworth (D-IL) in the Senate. We are proud to support this groundbreaking legislation to ensure that every person, whatever their income, can get affordable abortion care when they need it.

The So-Called “Born Alive Protection Act” Hurts Providers and People Who Need Abortion Care

"We know from the over 1500 stories submitted to the 1 in 3 Campaign that abortion is a highly personal decision. The last thing we need is for politicians to insert themselves into the relationships between providers and people who need abortion care. This Administration and the anti-abortion extremists in Congress are continuing their campaign of propaganda to stigmatize abortion later in pregnancy, vilify people who need it, and jail providers who do this needed service. But young people aren't falling for it. They support compassionate abortion policy, not these pointless and cruel attacks."

Trump’s Title X Rule Is An Attack On Young People

“Young people have the right to full and complete information about their reproductive and sexual health, and deserve access to fully confidential services. This harmful final rule from the Trump administration flies in the face of what young people need, essentially dismantling the program that has served low-income and young people for years,” said Debra Hauser, President of Advocates for Youth.  “Young people are working to move this country forward, not backward, and they won’t tolerate these constant attacks on abortion care and all reproductive and sexual health care services.”
