#MuslimAnd

#MuslimAnd is a campaign that expands common ideas of who Muslims are in schools and communities, and on social media.

Too many young Muslims find themselves saying something along the lines of “I’m Muslim, but I’m not anti-gay.” Or “I’m Muslim, but I support religious freedom.” No more. Muslims are not a monolith. We are #MuslimAnd Queer, #MuslimAnd feminist, #MuslimAnd Afro-Latinx,  #MuslimAnd fighting for civil liberties, #MuslimAnd so much more.

The Muslim youth Leadership Council (MyLC) has led the #MuslimAnd Campaign annually since 2018. The #MuslimAnd campaign first launched as a way to expand common perceptions of Muslims in the aftermath of the Trump Administration’s infamous Muslim ban. Instead of saying “I am Muslim, but…”, young Muslims are claiming an intersectional space and saying that we are #MuslimAnd Queer, #MuslimAnd Feminist, #MuslimAnd 5th Generation American, #MuslimAnd so much more.

Previous campaigns have seen young Muslims at campuses and communities across the country create and coordinate teach-ins, actions, campaigns, halaqas, and resources.

In 2025, recognizing the increased attacks on immigrant communities, young Muslims declared that we are #MuslimAndHere. Here to stay, here and queer, here and showing up in all of our diversity and brilliance!
