Title:  Amaze File Vault Intern

Supervisor:  AMAZE Manager

Project Description: AMAZE is a project of Advocates for Youth and Youth Tech Health.  The initiative is comprised of a series of more than 160 animated puberty and sex education videos and resources that have been viewed more than 55 million times in the U.S. alone.  The  video series targets young people ages 10 to 14, their parents, educators, and clinicians with honest and inclusive sex education—regardless of where they  live or what school they attend.  Videos are made available via the AMAZEorg YouTube channel and at www.amaze.org.  In addition, Amaze partners with organizations and agencies in more than 50 other countries and provides partners with these video assets to adapt, dub and/or subtitle for use in their countries and regions.

~~~~~~
Intern Responsibilities: The Amaze File Vault Intern will help gather and organize the file assets for each video we have created, migrate these files into an organized archive on Google Drive, and assist partner organizations to access file assets to distribute, modify and adapt videos to use in their regions.
File assets were produced over time by a variety of animators using a variety of software and techniques.  What was delivered for each video was inconsistent in terms of the types of assets available and how they are named and organized.  The intern will identify what was delivered and cross reference it against the types of information needed for each video, and then rename and organize the files and folders properly,  upload them into AMAZE’s shared storage area and set the permissions to match the different levels of protection that different types of assets require.
In addition, the intern will work with the AMAZE International Team to field requests for file assets, providing AMAZE’s international partners with the assets they need to adapt, dub or subtitle the videos they request and then to collect and file their subsequent new assets appropriately.
Timing:  Intern must be available for approximately 10 hours per week.
Skills needed:
  • Comfortable dealing with large numbers of files (computer & cloud) in animation domain.
  • Ability to quickly learn how to Identify, rename, organize, and upload the various types of assets.
  • Ability to reorganize and rename files locally using pattern-based tools such as ABFR (https://www.publicspace.net/ABetterFinderRename), as well as manual corrections using your computer’s operating system.
  • Familiarity with Google Drive permission structures and understanding of different types of permissions and sharing that is available through Google Drive.
  • Use of spreadsheets (Google Sheets) to track and document progress.
  • General familiarity and recognition of a variety of file types relating to graphic design, audio, video, and common animation tools. Candidate DOES NOT need to be skilled in using all of these tools for creation or editing, but will need to occasionally open up delivered files to be sure their content matches the filename description.
  • Familiarity with WordPress content entry a plus. [Not sure we care about this anymore.  I would remove it and focus on the other aspects]
  • Meticulous and careful about file integrity, security, and thoroughness.
  • Willing to ask questions when unsure, and have the initiative to propose solutions in ambiguous cases.
Wage: $20 per hour up to 10 hours per week.
Location: This position is remote due to COVID0-19 restrictions.
