
Advocates for Youth is seeking an Abortion Support Program Manager to manage efforts to support youth leaders across the country mobilizing a nationwide network of their peers to engage in informational, emotional, and practical support for youth abortion access.
Advocates for Youth’s Abortion Access team supports youth access to abortion through the following culture shift and policy advocacy strategies: campus and state organizing around campaigns to increase youth access to abortion, practical support (supporting with logistical aspects of access), and abortion storytelling (sharing personal experiences with abortion.)
GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
Under the supervision of the Director of Youth Abortion Access, the Abortion Support Program Manager will manage efforts to support youth leaders across the country mobilizing a nationwide network of their peers to engage in informational, emotional, and practical support for youth abortion access.
The Abortion Support Program Manager will manage the coordination of our Youth Abortion Support Collective (YouthASC), a network of approximately 1500 young people across the country who are interested in becoming go-to young people in their communities who are knowledgeable about how to get people connected to abortion care.
The Abortion Support Program Manager will support a group of 16 lead activists within YouthASC in building out local networks throughout 8 regions of the United States. These co-leads will develop relationships with practical support networks and/or doula/support collectives in their regions, and when applicable, build their own networks or collectives.
The Abortion Support Program Manager will also provide technical assistance and resources to states, as well as provide support, connections to storytellers, linkages to youth activists, and resources to national and state partners to help them advance youth access to abortion care. This position will join appropriate coalitions in order to provide support and build out youth practical support networks related to abortion access.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Organizational Abortion Access Work
- Support the Abortion Access team to build strategies to engage, mobilize, and expand the network of young people and state partner organizations in leading culture-shifting, practical support, and policy advocacy campaigns for youth access to abortion at local, state, and federal levels.
- Ensure effective time and task management in planning and executing abortion access strategies while maintaining alignment with organizational goals and timelines.
- Collaborate closely with team members and external stakeholders to foster teamwork and shared ownership of advocacy initiatives.
- Maintain clear, timely, and effective communication with internal and external partners to advance youth advocacy, culture, and policy shift strategies related to abortion access.
- Champion and center the rights of young people, especially BIPOC & LGBTQ+ youth, in select coalitions, activities, and media engagements, demonstrating accountability in representation and messaging.
- Youth Abortion Support Collective (YouthASC) Management

- Lead the coordination of the Youth Abortion Support Collective (YouthASC), a national network of nearly 1,500 young people, ensuring smooth and efficient program operations.
- Co-lead workshops and facilitate trainings in partnership with young people on practical support, abortion access, and culture shift strategies, such as storytelling, while managing time effectively to balance training needs.
- Oversee and continuously improve the YouthASC onboarding process, ensuring timely, structured, and supportive integration of new members.
- Provide ongoing technical assistance and connections to YouthASC members, responding to needs in a timely and accountable manner.

- Youth Abortion Support Collective (YouthASC) Regional Leads Management
- Oversee the cohort of 16 regional leads from 8 regions across the country, championing abortion access by recruiting, selecting, training, supervising, and providing ongoing support to members.
- Lead monthly cohort meetings and one-on-one check-ins, fostering an accountable and transparent environment for members’ abortion access work.
- Support regional leads in building effective partnerships with local practical support organizations while ensuring timely follow-ups and communication.
- Guide each pair of co-leads in developing and implementing a regional action plan that grows support for abortion access through practical support while holding them accountable to goals and deadlines.
- Lead the planning and coordination of an annual in-person Youth Abortion Support Collective co-leads training, ensuring smooth logistics, teamwork, and time management for maximum impact.
- YouthASC Abortion Support & Full-Spectrum Doula Support Curriculum
- Support the coordination and development of an annual multi-week YouthASC Abortion Support Training Series, ensuring efficient workflow, clear timelines, and structured content delivery.
- Consultant Supervision
- In partnership with the Director of Abortion Access, manage the YouthASC Consultant with an emphasis on clear expectations, accountability, and effective communication.
- General Responsibilities
- Demonstrate strong time and task management skills by prioritizing and executing responsibilities efficiently and meeting all deadlines.
- Foster a culture of teamwork and collective ownership across all projects, ensuring seamless collaboration with internal teams, partners, and young leaders.
- Maintain effective and timely communication in all aspects of the role, ensuring clarity, responsiveness, and proactive engagement with stakeholders.
- Exhibit total accountability in project execution, ensuring that all commitments, deliverables, and strategic initiatives align with the organization’s mission and goals.
- Perform other tasks as assigned while maintaining a high level of professionalism, efficiency, and integrity.

QUALIFICATIONS
- One to three years experience with direct service and/or practical support, ideally related to reproductive/sexual health and rights; experience coordinating large groups of volunteers
- Experience in building relationships with young people ages 14-24
- A demonstrated interest in abortion access and knowledge of practical support efforts for abortion access
- Culturally responsive with a deep commitment to the tenets of reproductive justice
- Demonstrated capacity to work with diverse communities
- Ability to work respectfully with peers and supervisors to contribute to a positive team environment.
Preference for candidates that have experience as an abortion doula/support person and/or birth or full-spectrum doula/support person (formal or informal); experience as an abortion storyteller; experience building or working with an abortion practical support network; or experience developing, implementing, or evaluating youth-centered programs.
COMPENSATION & HOURS
This is a full-time position (32 hours per week, four-day work week) and includes health/dental benefits, professional development funds, life and short- and long-term disability insurance, 403(b) retirement plan, and student loan paydown benefit.
SALARY: 60,000 to $65,000/year depending on level of experience
START DATE: May 16, 2o25
LOCATION: Advocates’ offices are based in Washington, DC. Strong preference for candidates in or near the Washington, DC metro area. Candidates for this position can be hybrid or fully remote, but need to be available during Eastern Time Zone working hours. Some travel to Washington, DC and other states will be required.
