I was 20-years old when I found out I was 5 weeks pregnant. I hadn’t been with the father very long, and while I was crazy about him, we weren’t ready to be parents, let alone parents together. I confided in a sorority sister that worked for Planned Parenthood and she, along with another sister, made all of the arrangements. She was so great the whole time – she took me to the clinic, held my hand through the procedure, and was with me in recovery. That was 10 years ago and to this day, I do not regret it. Sure, it was difficult at first, but those feelings were outweighed by the feeling of knowing I wasn’t going to make life horrible for three people. I firmly believe in my choice and I am thankful for being able to make such a choice.
