I aborted a wanted pregnancy when I was 32 years old.

We had a toddler at the time and found out the fetus I was carrying had downs syndrome. We researched the condition and determined it was best for our family to terminate the pregnancy.

It was a very difficult decision. We didn’t know how severe the condition would be. Would the child be able to walk and talk? Would she have severe medical problems? What would happen when me and my husband died? There were so many unknowns related to continuing the pregnancy. I do not regret my decision and I feel lucky that the decision was mine to make. I do not want law makers to decide what they think is best for me and my family.
