I used my birth control incorrectly because I wasn’t taught how it worked and I was too self-conscious to ask the pharmacist. I took the wrong weeks at the wrong times and ended up pregnant.
My boyfriend of 5 years was extremely supportive and we already knew I would go through with the procedure. Neither of us wants kids, which we had discussed multiple times throughout our relationship. When I got pregnant, I knew it was my fault for messing up my birth control (I should have been more careful), but I felt confident knowing that my partner and I were completely on the same page and that he was there for me.
An abortion is expensive. If you don’t want kids, use your contraception with knowledge and care. But if you do get pregnant, know that there are a lot of people who support whatever kind of steps you decide to take, especially if you truly believe it is what’s right for you.
