Please explain (in 300 to 500 words) why you believe emergency contraception (EC) should be available for young women under age 18. If you wish, you can use the following questions (about being an activist and/or about using EC) as a guide. Or, you can simply write your story. You can inspire and educate youth to learn more about EC and to protect themselves, when they need it!

Email your story to sarah@advocatesforyouth.org.

You can write about being a youth activist…

  1. Are you a youth activist working to improve availability of EC?
  2. Why are you involved? Why are you working for change?
  3. What are you doing? Be specific.
    1. List organizations with which you are active. Include Web site links so we can drive traffic to your organizations' sites.
    2. Provide examples of activities and projects that you work on within your organizations.
  4. What difference do you feel that you are making? Talk about the impact of your being an activist. Include examples of programs that have improved because of your efforts, the change an individual has made as a result of your work, etc.
    1. How has your being an activist affected you and/or made a difference in your life?
    2. How has your being an activist affected others and/or made a difference in others' lives?

And/or you can talk about an experience with EC …

  1. Have you (or someone you know) used EC?
  2. How/where did you learn about EC?
  3. What was your experience in getting EC? Was it easy? Difficult?
  4. What difference has using EC made in your life? Talk about the impact of your using EC.
