Stop the War on Condoms!

In the past five years, conservatives in Congress and the Administration have pushed an anti-condom agenda designed to undermine public confidence in condom use. Some of the their activities include:

  1. Removing "Programs that Work" which provided information about comprehensive sex education programs for sexually active teenagers, including information about birth control and condoms from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) Web site.
  2. Replacing a condom fact sheet that included important information about how to use condoms, with a new fact sheet that emphasized failure rates rather than the protection condoms give against sexually transmitted infections (STIs), including HIV.
  3. Spending over 1.3 billion dollars on abstinence-only-until-marriage programs that, by law, cannot give information about the health benefits of condoms in protecting against pregnancy and STIs, including HIV.
  4. Requesting the Federal Drug Administration (FDA) to Impose mandatory labeling of condom packages that emphasize the "limitations" of condoms.

For more information on this unprecedented attack on condoms and to get the facts about condom effectiveness, read the following:

STOP THE WAR ON CONDOMS! Send a letter to your Senator and Representative in support of the REAL Act—a bill that would provide federal money to support responsible sex education, including information about the importance of condom use for sexually active youth, in American's schools.
