Ethiopian Youth Council for Higher Opportunities Print

Advocates for Youth and Ethiopia’s Talent Youth Association (TaYa) have partnered to create a youth leadership council. Named ECHO (Ethiopian Youth Council for Higher Opportunities), the council will advocate for the Ethiopian governments to: 1) increase access to modern contraceptives for young women between the ages of 15-29; and 2) secure youth representation in the decision-making process of national policies, program implementation, and evaluation on adolescent reproductive and sexual health.

(TaYa) was established by ten youths who came from different colleges, universities and institution of higher learning. TaYA is legally registered with the Ministry of Justice to function as a local NGO in Ethiopia. TAYA envisions a country where its young people are healthy, productive and self-reliant. TAYA’s mission is to promote, initiate and advocate for the improvement of adolescent reproductive health conditions and combating the spread of HIV/AIDS through participation, partnership and networking in rural and urban areas of Ethiopia.
