While the fight against STI/HIV/AIDS still plagues communities of color, especially women, I see it as my duty to bring forth change. Bree is a member of the Young Women of Color Leadership Council.
So far, my favorite form of activism is speaking to congress members about policies and representing youth (and women) on a political level. This year, I hope to inspire young women to do the same and use their voices to spark a change politically. When I am not talking to young women about safe sex and reproductive/sexual health access, I love to volunteer with youth, eat at different restaurants in San Francisco, laugh with friends, sing loudly in the shower, go to museums, play Sudoku, and hang out with my family when I am back home in Los Angeles. |

I have always been passionate about activism and joining causes that are important to my community. While the fight against STI/HIV/AIDS still plagues communities of color, especially women, I see it as my duty to bring forth change through awareness. Joining Advocates for Youth and the Young Women of Color Leadership Council has given me the opportunity to speak to young ladies, while giving me the resources for prevention and promote reproductive/sexual health. Although San Francisco and the state of California provide many opportunities to learn about comprehensive sexual education, I still believe that we have not been inclusive for young women of color in terms of resources and awareness.
