I am a positive thinker and believe with education, awareness and team work, the challenges young people face regarding sexual health and rights can be eliminated.

Blessing works with Advocates for Youth and Education as a Vaccine Against AIDS as a part of Nigeria’s International Youth Speak Out project.

My name is Blessing Onuche. I am a 21 years old female from Kogi state, Nigeria. I am a 2nd year biological science student at the University of Abuja. My experience as a young girl growing in a family with an HIV infected brother who faced stigma from family and friends was a major motivating factor for my conviction and involvement as an advocate and someone who is interested in providing the right information.

I am passionate about helping young people improve their reproductive and sexual health and wellness, which was why I was trained as a peer educator. I am a positive thinker and believe with education, awareness and team work, the challenges young people face regarding sexual health and rights can be eliminated. I intend to work in the health sector, and my dream is to see a generation not deprived of its rights and not ignorant, but well informed and educated about sexual health. I hope for a world that takes young people living with HIV/AIDS as an important resource and not a liability.
