I want to be able to graduate college and look back and feel proud of what I have done for my generation and the generations to come. I want to be able to make a difference in young people’s lives , that they may not be sentenced to a life of suffering because of a lack of education.

As a 19-year-old college student at the University of Maryland, born and raised in the United States, it may be difficult to fully understand the problems many young adults face outside this country. Even within this country, I often forget the hundreds of thousands that suffer because of a lack of sexual health education. As of late, I have begun to better understand and fight the problems our global society faces when it comes to youth sexual health. In fact, the motivation to fight these problems mainly comes from visiting my motherland, India, and witnessing young children condemned to a life of suffering and pain, all of which could have been prevented. I want to be able to graduate college and look back and feel proud of what I have done for my generation and the generations to come. I want to be able to make a difference in young people’s lives , that they may not be sentenced to a life of suffering because of a lack of education. Through Advocates for Youth , my ideas can become actions. Activism in areas one is passionate about comes naturally; however, it requires the right tools, which I believe Advocates for Youth has offered me. Although it may sound cliché, the future is in the hands of today’s youth. It is time we take responsibility for our own actions and do what is right for advocating sexual health and rights.
