I want future generations to transform sexual health issues from something that is taboo to something that is accepted and talked about openly. Angel is a junior in college and a member of the Campus Organizing Team.
In high school I noticed how controversial topics pertaining to sex can be, and the stigma towards persons with HIV. This motivated me to educate myself and my peers so that individuals are aware of the risks and the “it” conversation becomes more comfortable. Currently, I work as a Responsible Education and Action for Campus Health (REACH) peer educator. As a peer educator I conduct educational programs, coordinate awareness campaigns, organize wellness promotion activities, act as a resource and referral source and promote choice advocacy. This opportunity helps me gain experience for a career I wish to pursue as a health educator concentrating on HIV prevention and STI awareness. I want people of my generation to educate themselves and know their rights. I want future generations to transform sexual health issues from something that is taboo to something that is accepted and talked about openly.
