I want to stress the importance of sexual health to future generations because everyday thousands of young people are diagnosed with sexual diseases (many of which have no cure) or experience unintended pregnancy.

Growing up in Memphis for the last 21 years has had a major impact on my life. Living in a zip code with one of the highest birthrates in the country has shown me the effects of poverty and lack of sex education. Watching my closest companions as well as relatives try to overcome the underlying issues of Memphis has motivated me to find a solution. I began working with Planned Parenthood of Greater Memphis to help educate teenagers as well as their parents on safe sex techniques.

Soon after, I became involved at the Medical Regional Center in Memphis where I work currently as a volunteer in the Birth Center. I help to assist the doctors and nurses from tasks ranging from data entry to delivery room tasks. As a volunteer for these organizations, I want to stress the importance of sexual health to future generations because everyday thousands of young people are diagnosed with sexual diseases (many of which have no cure) or experience unintended pregnancy. Sexual health is important to me mainly because every individual deserves to have a healthy life with access to healthcare and birth control.
