Kids Creating Social Change: Films Written by and for Teens
Youth today are primarily visual learners who have
accustomed themselves to the rapid pace of cable reality
shows and Web surfing. Scenarios
USA, a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting healthy behavior
among youth, uses the artistry of storytelling and filmmaking to engage young
people
in thinking and talking about their sexual and reproductive health. The films
acknowledge the realities of teenagers' lives because they are written by
teens. The films use teens' language, style, music, and culture while addressing
important
topics such as relationships, communication, sexual identity, teen pregnancy,
and HIV/AIDS.
