Why Is
Effective Communication Important?
- Because we love our children and want them to
grow up happy, healthy, and responsible
- Because our children love us and want our guidance,
approval, and support
- Because how, what, and when we communicate helps
determine how our children will communicate with
others
- Because children learn values from our words,
our tones, our postures—they all send messages
to our children about our beliefs and values
- Because our children will often need good communication
skills to address problems or situations in a positive,
healthy, and affirming manner.
