November 2005 update on new publications, actions you can take, and more!
Advocates for Youth's e-News Update
Help stop censorship of condom information in public schools and have fun while you do it!
http://www.advocatesforyouth.org/youth/advocacy/yan/condom/
We all know that, in sex education classes across the country, accurate information about condoms has been censored. Fearing that such information might promote sexual promiscuity among youth, anti-condom activists in Congress and the administration have instead poured more than one billion dollars into abstinence-only-until-marriage programs. But we know that umbrellas don’t cause rain!! As such,
Advocates for Youth and Sex Etc.
proudly announce our
Respect Yourself. Protect Yourself. Condom Campaign Contest
To get the word out that condoms do protect against HIV and many other sexually transmitted infections--and to have fun, too--we have developed an online creative tool that young people can use in the contest. Contest entrants must be between the ages of 15 and 24. But anyone--of any age--can unleash their creativity and make an innovative, imaginative, provocative, or just plain silly design.
Semifinalists' designs will all be displayed in our online art gallery and available to send to friends as e-post cards.
Then, on February 14th--right in time for Valentine’s Day--we will announce three lucky winners! First prize is $500. The two runners up will receive $250 each. All three winning designs will become posters and palm cards and distributed across the country!
Get your youth involved! Its fun and its educational.
What could be better?!
