Women of Color Promote Positive Hip Hop

New York, NY (Thursday, March 5, 2009) - When it comes to healing, women, especially women of color have been mixing all kinds of ingredients into recipes that give them strength and courage to face difficult odds. For the last two years, one young activist’s awareness about the destructive targeting of women in mainstream hip hop has furthered her love of music and noise by staging Momma’s Hip Hop Kitchen.

The event showcases young women hip hop artists and allows them the space to take ownership over their love of music and hip hop stripped of the destructive objectification of women.
