Access to family planning services and commodities such as male and female condoms are critical to saving these young women’s lives and allowing them to plan their pregnancies. Over the past 10 years, the federal government has funded over $1.5 billion in abstinence-only programs that censor information about the health benefits of contraception and condoms. Tell Congress to Eliminate Abstinence-Only Funding Over the past 12 years, Congress has invested over $1.5 billion in programs that mislead young people and promote scientifically-inaccurate information. Most recently, a long-term, scientific evaluation mandated by Congress confirmed that these programs are ineffective at helping young people abstain from sex.
