Although New Hampshire’s sexual health statistics are among the best in the nation, there are disparities: people of color in New Hampshire are more at risk for pregnancy and HIV than whites. Young Latinas are more than twice as likely to experience pregnancy as young white women. African Americans account for fourteen percent of AIDS cases even though they make up only one percent of the population.
Sex Education Policy
New Hampshire law requires comprehensive sex education in schools. Its students must be taught the benefits of abstinence, while also receiving information about condoms and contraception. See the statutes governing sex education: 186:11 and 189:10 .
