HIV Vaccine Awareness Day May 18thHIV Vaccine Awareness Day

On May 18th what will you be doing? Why not wear a red AIDS ribbon upside down as a symbol for VICTORY—victory for all the hard work and advances that have been made in the last 21 years of HIV vaccine research. The upside down red ribbon also forms a V for VACCINES, the vision of a world without HIV and AIDS.

May 18th is HIV Vaccine Awareness Day and communities around the world are coming together to provide a platform from which to speak, support, and educate one another about the value of HIV vaccine research, the commitment to find vaccines that work, and the advances that are being made in the field of HIV vaccine research. Currently, there is no vaccine for HIV, and HIV Vaccine Awareness Day provides us with an opportunity to stand together against the AIDS pandemic, by acknowledging and supporting the people and the progress we have made, so far, in the work for a vaccine to prevent HIV infection.
