Contraceptives
There are several ways to protect oneself from unintended pregnancy and sexually transmitted infections, including HIV and AIDS. It is important to know all of the different forms of contraception and what they protect against, to be able to make informed decisions on which method to use.
Currently, abstinence-only-until-marriage programs do not allow educators to talk about different methods of contraception. And if they do, they must emphasize failure rates, rather than their overwhelming success rates.
This section provides information on what contraceptives are available, lesson plans for educating young people, and how parents can talk to their children about contraception.
