| Rick Santorum says that it's "almost remarkable" for a black President to support abortion |

by Nikki Serapio, Manager, New Media Strategies Some of you probably remember the infamous tenure of former U.S. Senator Rick Santorum (PA), who was widely condemned time and time again for his anti-gay remarks, his extreme anti-choice views...basically, his entire out-of-touch and fundamentalist social agenda.
NBC News reports this morning:
"In [a recent] interview with the Christian News Service — and it's on camera — Santorum was asked about President Obama's views on abortion and said he found it "almost remarkable for a black man to say, 'we're going to decide who are people and who are not people.'"As we come up on the 38th anniversary of the Roe v. Wade, we should keep in mind those groups and individuals who want so badly to destroy a woman's right to choose. People like Rick Santorum are particularly extreme, but you only need to remember other anti-choicers' "black genocide" propaganda last year and this year in order to realize that Santorum isn't alone. Their marching language is an ugly mix of bigotry, racial assumption, and outright illogic — and it should serve as additional motivation for us to fight for abortion rights in 2012. Here's the video of Santorum's remarks: |
