Wubit is a member of the Ethiopian Youth Council for Higher Opportunities through the International Youth Speak Out Project.

WubitI am a 23-year old woman born in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. I first got involved in anti-HIV/AIDS clubs in the 8th grade.  A few years later, I founded the Tinsae Ethiopia Youth Association, an organization based in Addis Ababa that promotes youth dialogue through HIV/AIDS awareness and prevention activities. As a Peer Leader, I facilitate small, weekly, discussions with youth. I also write drama scripts for Tinsae’s theatre program that incorporate positive messages for young people on issues of sexuality. In addition to my work with the Tinsae Ethiopia Youth Association, I facilitate bi-monthly leadership meetings for Hiwot Ethiopia, an organization based in Addis that works on HIV/AIDS prevention. I also contribute to a 30-minute radio program coordinated by Speak Africa, an organization that facilitates information exchange between African youth on media, art and culture.

I work at the Ethiopian Youth Network as vice manager, supported by Family Health International.  I am proud to be a member of the Ethiopian Youth Council for Higher Opportunities (ECHO), with the support of Talent Youth Association and Advocates for Youth.  Now, I believe I can help others understand the challenges of reproductive and sexual health and create solutions.  I earned my diploma in Information Technology and plan to start a university degree program in communications to become an international journalist.
