About Advocates for Youth

Public Information Services Print

The Public Information Services department works to provide staff, initiative partners, and the public with the best and most current information about adolescent reproductive and sexual health and related topics.

Web sites

Advocates believes that with the increase of technology, the internet has become an important way for people to receive information. The main Advocates for Youth Web site is a comprehensive portal of information on adolescent reproductive and sexual health issues. The Web site includes Advocates’ latest publications, campaigns, policy initiatives, and information about issues relevant to ensuring young people have access to honest sexual health information and confidential sexual health services.

In 1997, Advocates began harnessing the power of the Internet to reach youth in high-risk situations—including youth of color and gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender (GLBT) youth with culturally relevant information, support, and community-based referral. In addition to the organizational Web site, Advocates for Youth hosts five other Web sites:

The Research Center

There is a wealth of information available to support the work of educators, program administrators, and health care providers.  But finding accurate, current, peer-reviewed information can be challenging.  Check out the Research Center for the latest peer-reviewed, scholarly information in the field.

Publications

The Public Information Services Department provides hard copies or downloadable files of Advocates’ science-based, rigorously researched fact sheets, curricula, policy briefs, brochures, and other materials. Advocates for Youth's publications include information on involving communities to improve programs and policies for youth, uncovering the facts about adolescent sexual health, involving youth in peer education and activism, and educating young people about reproductive and sexual health. Go to the publications section to see a list of all of Advocates for Youth’s publications.
